SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS.- Fulfilling the government's promise to reduce the housing deficit and improve the quality of life of Dominicans, the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, and the Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Carlos Bonilla, delivered 150 new apartment units of the Mi Vivienda los Salados project, in this district.
The Vice President highlighted that the delivery of the project represents another step forward in fulfilling the government's promise to provide Dominicans with decent housing and essential basic services, established as a right in the Constitution of the Republic.
He emphasized that beyond the direct benefit to each family, these housing construction plans boost the local economy, generate jobs, and stimulate the construction sector, which has become one of the productive activities with a significant role in the economic development of the northern region.
“We are happy to be part of these historic moments in the Dominican Republic in which we join forces to achieve change,” said Raquel Peña.
With this new delivery, Mi Vivienda los Salados now has 210 families who own their new home in a project that, when completed, will have 656 units in total, green areas and recreational zones, parking for owners and a sports area.
Carlos Bonilla, Minister of MIVED, explained that the My Housing Plan is changing the lives of hundreds of Dominican families who now live in their own homes.
The project involved an investment of 1.505 billion pesos and has generated more than 1,300 direct jobs, benefiting more than 2,000 people and positively impacting the economy of the northern zone and the construction sector of the Cibao region.

Mi Vivienda Los Salados is part of the Mi Vivienda Plan, which includes the construction of more than 7,400 apartments distributed between Santiago and Santo Domingo.
In addition to the Los Salados project, there is also one in La Barranquita in Santiago, where 50 new housing units were delivered during the month of August; and several projects in Santo Domingo, specifically in Ciudad Modelo, San Luis and Hato Nuevo, where 300 homes have already been delivered this year.
Marilyn Espinal, who received her apartment along with her three children, said she had been living in a room at her mother's house that leaked. The woman, who worked as a custodian at a high school in the province of Santiago, explained that she sent a direct message to Minister Carlos Bonilla on Instagram, and he responded by providing her with the link to apply.
During the handover of the keys, Vice President Bonilla was accompanied by Eduardo Estrella, President of the Senate of the Dominican Republic and Senator for the province of Santiago de los Caballeros; Rosa Santos, Provincial Governor of Santiago de los Caballeros; Andrés Van der Horst Álvarez, General Manager of Fiduciaria Reservas; Ulises Rodríguez Guzmán, General Director of ProIndustria; and Andrés Cueto, General Manager of EDENORTE, among other state authorities.
